The Marketing News of the Week

YouTube unveils a new format for advertising content:
Online advertising is largely dominated by Google and Facebook. Until now, advertising content on the Internet has been photos or videos. However, Google is looking to innovate and thanks to its YouTube platform, the Mountain View firm will deploy the first audio ads. Indeed, this is a new format specifically targeting people who use YouTube to listen to music in the background. According to the company, its new format should therefore not be aimed at people watching music videos or concerts, but only at those who only keep the background music when they are doing another activity in parallel. As these people do not have their eyes on the platform, the visual advertisements cannot reach them. Instead, the company states in its press release that the audio ads will only display a still image or simple animation, while the soundtrack will play the main role in getting the message across.

Sony realizes a stroke of genius for the advertising of its console:
For the release of the PS5 in Europe, the Japanese manufacturer Sony wanted to mark the occasion in a rather original way, thanks to a partnership with the London Underground. PlayStation UK has redecorated the signs indicating the entrance to several subway stations in the English capital with the symbols Cross, Square, Triangle and Round on its controllers. This colorful initiative did not go unnoticed, especially concerning the Pink Square, proudly enthroned at Oxford Circus... where a Microsoft Store is located! The transformation is absolutely obvious to anyone who's ever had a PlayStation controller in their hands, and it's almost to wonder how no one had thought of it before! The collaboration also extends inside the London Underground with displays on station walls. It's a real stroke of marketing genius.

Societe Generale Maroc is reviving its advertising tarpaulins:
In an eco-responsible and eco-citizen approach, Societe Generale Maroc calls upon a specialist in the management of upcycling operations to give a second life to its advertising tarpaulins by transforming them into school bags and school kits for the children of the SOS Villages Association. This operation resulted in the production of 650 school satchels and 650 kits. Advertising tarpaulins are ephemeral communication media despite the lifespan of the materials used! Based on this observation, Societe Generale Maroc considered changing their universe and use by recycling them into school bags and kits. An initiative that contributes to the educational inclusion of children from underprivileged backgrounds.
